A News-Packed Episode
[Stuart Carlton]
Teach me about the Great Lakes. Teach me about the Great Lakes. Welcome back to Teach Me About the Great Lakes, a twice monthly podcast in which I, a Great Lakes novice, ask people who are smarter and harder working than I am to teach me all about the Great Lakes.
My name is Stuart Carlton and I work with Illinois Indiana Sea Grant and I know a lot about how to keep hand warmers warm by putting them in a plastic bag so they don't have oxygen to continue their chemical reaction so that the aforementioned hand warmers are good for the bike ride home in addition to the bike ride to work. But I don't know a lot about the Great Lakes and that's the point of this here show. And listener, we got big news here.
We're just going to jump straight into it. Every now and again we like to have a segment we call Great Lakes News and this is a news packed episode. So we're going to jump right into it right now.
And now it's time for the Great Lakes News. Here's your host, Stuart Carlton. Thank you for that, Stuart.
And it is time for the Great Lakes News and we have a special correspondent today. It is our All Things Canada correspondent, Carolyn Foley. Carolyn, welcome in to the Great Lakes News
[Carolyn Foley]
Thank you for having me, Stuart.
[Stuart Carlton]
Yeah, thank you for sharing your expertise. All right, we're just going to jump right into a Great Lakes News.
What we do is we mention a Great Lakes story and then we comment on it. So here we go right now. Story number one, Great Lakes Now.
Our former Great Lakes News partner, Great Lakes Now, do wonderful work. They have a story. You can find it in the show notes right here.
It says geese are a problem. What can we do? So this is a story about Canada geese and the number of them that there are.
Carolyn, are there too many Canada geese?
[Carolyn Foley]
Yes.
[Stuart Carlton]
Teach me about the Great Lakes is brought to you by the fine people at Illinois Indiana Sea Grant.
We encourage you to check out the cool stuff we do at IIC Grant period org and at ILIMC Grant on Facebook, Insta, Blue Sky and other social... probably not other social media actually, but maybe? What do I know?
I'm now officially too old for that stuff. I'm a dandy glover. Our senior producer is Carolyn Foley and Teach Me About the Great Lakes is produced by Megan the Lake Lover, Gunn, and Renie Miles.
Ethan Chitty is our associate producer and fixer. Riley Ramsey is taking care of business and our super fun podcast artwork is by Joel Davenport. The show is edited by the incomparable Sandy Stroboto.
If you have a question or comment about the show, send us an email at teachmeaboutthegreatlakes at gmail.com. Leave a message on our hotline, the Smokin' Hot Hotline, as I heard it referred to recently. The Smokin' Chub Hotline 765-496-IISG.
